An Important Message from the Superintendent Regarding Recent News Accounts (10-23-14)
As many of you know by recent news accounts, several students who attend Highland High School are being investigated by law enforcement for their role in allegedly dispersing photographs of themselves and others through Dropbox, a file-storing application that allows sharing of digital documents. Some of these photographs are reported to be of students either partially clothed or nude. It is important to note that a number of these photographs are of students fully clothed and are not the subject of any criminal investigation. READ MORE
‘Anything Goes’ at HHS Fall Musical
Highland High School will present its fall musical, “Anything Goes,” at 7 p.m. on November 13, 14
and 15 in the high school auditorium. With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, “Anything Goes,” focuses on the madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin aid Billy in his quest to win Hope. The musical introduced such songs as “Anything Goes,” “You’re the Top,” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.” Ticket prices for all performances are $8 for adults, $5 for students with children 3 and under admitted free. Chinese Folk-Fusion Band to Perform at HHS
Highland High School welcomes Shanren, a Chinese folk-fusion band, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 22 in the HHS Auditorium. Through original compositions and traditional songs, the four musicians fuse their indigenous music with modern styles from around the globe, creating a fresh sound in China’s increasingly diverse music scene. Since its founding in 2000, Shanren has earned critical and popular acclaim at major music festivals in China, Indonesia, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, Canada, and Spain. This event, which is made possible through the support of Arts Midwest World Fest and Ohio Regional Music Arts Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) is open to all neighboring communities. Fall Classes Offered Through Highland Community Education
The newest Highland Community Education Course Catalog is now available! There are many new classes for students as well as adults. After-school enrichment classes in cooking, babysitting and tae kwon do are available, as are a variety new adult online technology classes. Adult evening classes offer tips and tricks to using Apple devices, CPR, improving communication, Reiki, meditation and so much more. A 13-hour course in ACT preparation will also be offered for high school juniors and seniors. Class sizes are limited.
